Questions & Answers

Our FAQs leave no questions unanswered

What does the Zillertal Arena offer skiers and snowboarders?

The Zillertal Arena is the largest ski area in the Zillertal and stretches from Zell am Ziller via Gerlos and Königsleiten to Hochkrimml. Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy around 150 kilometres of pistes and 52 modern lifts and cable cars, with runs for a wide range of ability levels. This makes the Zillertal Arena a varied ski area for families, leisurely skiers and more experienced skiers and snowboarders alike.

How do I get from Hotel Englhof to the Zillertal Arena ski area?

The free ski bus stops directly outside Hotel Englhof and takes guests conveniently to the Zillertal Arena ski area. The hotel also offers a ski pass service at reception, allowing guests to obtain their ski passes directly on site and start their day on the slopes without long waits at the lift ticket office.

Which other ski areas can I visit from Hotel Englhof?

In addition to the Zillertal Arena, the Zillertal offers several other major ski areas, including Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch, Mountopolis near Mayrhofen and the Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 with the Hintertux Glacier. Altogether, the Zillertal features four large ski areas with around 546 kilometres of pistes and 180 lifts. Zell am Ziller railway station is only about a five-minute walk from the Englhof, making it convenient to reach other winter sports areas throughout the valley.

Can I go cross-country skiing near Hotel Englhof?

Yes. Groomed cross-country skiing trails are located around 500 metres from Hotel Englhof. Zell am Ziller offers various trails for both classic cross-country skiing and skating. This makes it easy to combine a winter holiday at the Englhof with both alpine and cross-country skiing.

Where can I go tobogganing around Zell am Ziller?

A special winter experience is the Gerlosstein toboggan run near Hainzenberg. At around seven kilometres long, it is the longest toboggan run in the Zillertal and is also floodlit for evening runs. The Gerlosstein cable car takes you comfortably up to around 1,650 metres above sea level.

What can I do in the Zillertal in winter if I do not ski?

Away from the ski slopes, the Zillertal offers plenty of opportunities for a varied winter holiday. Activities include winter hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice skating, snow tubing, ski touring and many other winter experiences. On days when the weather is less favourable, the Erlebnistherme Fügen or the Alpine Spa at Hotel Englhof provide relaxing alternatives.
